HEATH MAN HOPES TO TURN MEDICAL HELMETS INTO PERSONAL WORKS OF ART

When Stephen Gioffre started airbrushing about four years ago, he thought it would be a fun way to make some extra money.
Over the years, he's painted murals, Christmas stockings, skateboards, baseball helmets and other items.
But as a father of two sons and a new baby daughter, he recently decided to use his skills to help families dealing with medical issues.
PROJECT HELPS DIAGNOSE KIDS WITH AUTISM SOONER

The project is a statewide program administered by the Ohio Center for Autism and Low Incidence in collaboration with the Family Child Learning Center. It was established in 2008 to increase early and timely access to diagnostic evaluation to identify children with autism.
SHERIDAN HIGH SCHOOL WINS PAINT THE PLOW

The plow painting was organized by Sheridan High School art teacher Steve Gioffre who was given a week to complete the plow. Gioffre then named one student to be in charge of painting the plow with help. Seven students worked on the plow project.
“Bethany was really the only one that I thought would handle this project alone,” Gioffre said. “She just listened to everything I said.”
SCARECROWS HAVE A NEW SCENE AT THE HOMEMAKERS BUILDING AT THE COUNTY FAIR

One of the events returning this year is the Scarecrow competition. In order to add a bit of flare to the display, Sheridan High School art teacher Stephen Gioffre, volunteered his services to paint a whimsical cornfield as a back drop for the entries.

As for the cornfield backdrop Gioffre said, “I was glad to do the painting.” Gioffre was contacted by one of his student’s mom and asked if he would lend a hand. Gioffre also paints baseball helmets for kids, murals, and other pieces.
